How to deal with vocabulary problems while speaking?

Among the problems of speaking,  vocabulary is a really important one, maybe the most important. The lack of vocabulary items, having a lot of passive vocabulary rather than active vocabulary, lack of vocabulary practice through production are some of the reasons for this issue. Due to these reasons, the speaking ability of a person can be restricted to a great extent. In this post I will share some possible ways to deal with vocabulary problems while speaking to shed light on situations and answer questions such as ''How can I overcome speaking problems while speaking?'', ''I can't remember words I normally know while speaking.'', ''How can I improve my active vocabulary?'', ''How to improve vocabulary usage in speaking?'', ''How to use vocabulary actively?'' etc.

1. Focus on your active vocabulary as well as your passive vocabulary. When you encounter words while reading and speaking, these words are generally added to your passive vocabulary. If you just check their meanings and move on, you may have problems later when you try to use these words in writing and speaking. In order to avoid this problem, use the words that you learn by writing and speaking. You can form one or two sample sentences by writing and speaking when you learn a sentence. The more practice you do the easier it will be to recall that word. 
2. Learn English words with their synonyms and similar words. This step is really helpful when you can't remember words easily. For example you can keep the word 'take part' as 'participate' on your mind rather than matching it with a word in your native language. You can keep 'exhausted' as 'tired' on your mind. They aren't synonyms but they are similar. If you can't remember one of them, you can use it for the other. 
3. Try to describe the words you can't remember. Still having problems after applying step 1 and step 2? Don't worry. If you can't remember a word, you can try to describe it. For example let's say you can't remember the word 'trainers'. You can say the shoes you wear while doing sports. You can apply this to other words too. Just try to explain that word to the person you are talking to. 
4. If you can't remember a word, you can skip that. After applying all these steps, if you still keep having problems, another strategy is simply skipping. If you can't remember a specific word for a long time and if you can't remember a similar word or if you can't describe it, just move on with another sentence. It may come to your mind later while speaking. 
5. Show something similar. When you can't remember a word, look around. If there is something similar, you can show that to the person you are talking to. Let's say you want to say sofa but it doesn't come to your mind. Show a chair and tell that the word you can't remember is similar to that item. It is possible to forget even simple words from time to time. 

All in all, these are some basic strategies to deal with vocabulary problems while reading. The most effective while strategy I find the most useful is to learn English words with their synonyms. By doing this you can enhance your vocabulary as well as decreasing your vocabulary problems while speaking. Also, never skip doing active vocabulary activities as well as passive ones.
